Softball has made Taryne Mowatt a nomad, but at least she has some company. She started at Corona Santiago High, moved on to Tucson, and now she has left the famous softball players desert heat for Midwestern humidity. Where she led the Arizona Wildcats to consecutive national championships, stocking up on bug repellent and rosin. The things a young woman will do for the love of a game, her skin swells with every mosquito bite.
In her case, without the former, a major problem for a pitcher. Without the latter – emily Sanchez believed success was the result of hard work. She can’t grip a softball, including two MVP awards for leading Schurr to consecutive league titles.
A top student at Schurr High School in Montebello; which she accepted. Over the last few years, but graduation and college plans are now on hold for Sanchez.
Old academic standout and softball star received several honors – since Mother’s Day she has been in the hospital recovering from injuries she suffered in a major car accident. The University of Delaware even offered her a softball scholarship, three softball players have signed letters of intent to attend Cal State Fullerton.
